Spring Break Part 1: Hollywood and Beverly Hills

For spring break, JD and I decided to take a trip up the coast. Starting the very moment I got off of work Friday, we hit the road and traveled through LA, Hollywood, Beverly Hills, Santa Monica, Malibu, the Redwood Forest, Oregon Coast, New Port, Florence, Portland, Seattle, and back down through Boise and Las Vegas. We had a blast. I've never put in so many hours in a car in such a short time- we estimated around 50 hours spent driving from one location to another (not counting the days where we drove around the cities) in 10 days. We saw sun, rain, snow, hail, and clouds.

We started at the Chinese Theater in Hollywood.






We then walked down the Walk of Fame.










We took a bus tour to see the sites. Here we are overlooking LA.




This is Meg Ryan's house.


This auditorium at a middle school was called the Michael Jackson Auditorium. Once the scandal with the child molestation broke out, they covered his name.


This is a club where a ton of the younger celebrities hang out.




This is the site where Lindsey Lohan got her DUI running into a bunch of trees. You can see where the new trees were put in.


Here's Dr. Phil's house. We saw a ton of celebrities' houses, but now I can't remember them all when I look at the pictures. But this one was by far the most beautiful house we saw. The Italian beveled glass was amazing!


This is where Michael Jackson was taken from his home in LA when he passed away.


This is the front yard of Bill Cosby. The man statue of the tourists in the front is a statue of Cosby himself.


Here is the famous Rodeo Drive.


This store requires an appointment to be allowed to enter. It also requires a payment of $2500 for the store owner's time.


This store is Prada. Apparently the designer decided he was too famous to have to put his name on his store. It's just a blank front.


The Kodak Theater- home of the Oscars.


We saved some serious coinage on this trip through some nifty tips we found on the Internet. We knew all of the cheap places to park, eat, and stay. We also brought most of our food with us. Here we are in the parking garage enjoying lunch!

Mohammad Ali is the only star that is not on the ground. It's against his religion to step on a name. JD is wearing a headset from our walking tour we took.

We took a tour of the Kodak Theater. These are the steps that the celebrities walk up to go to the Oscars. The steps are build wide and short to accommodate heels.

Rodeo Drive- We walked around the street there to look at the crazy expensive shops.






This is the hotel where Pretty Woman was filmed.


I kinda have a thing for Valentino. I'd love to have one of his dresses someday. And where would I wear a Valentino? Haven't gotten that far. To the grocery store?




One of the cheap eats that we heard about. The best Cuban food I've ever had. Which isn't saying much since I haven't had much of it.....

So I'm starting to hear back from law schools. I got my first letter and luckily it was a good letter rather than a rejection. So it made me realize that there might possibly be TWO schools that will accept me and that I may have to actually make a decision. I was secretly thinking that no school would want me. Granted, the school that accepted me is in Nebraska and I applied there because the app fee was cheap (who wants to live in Nebraska!?) but now that the possibility exists, I've created a list of factors that will govern our decision. Anything I should add to the list?

1. Number of hours it takes to drive to Montana
2. Size of bugs
3. Weather
4. Proximity to Trader Jo's
5. Proximity to a good hair stylist (that was one that SHOULD have been added to the list in determining where JD would go......live and learn.....)
   
6. Scariness of bugs based on a 1-10 rating scale (AZ has scarred me for life!)
7. Colors of the school- and if they are cute
8. a routinely working toilet in the ladies' room at the law school (I'm getting REALLY tired of the one at work!)

Extra credit points:

1. an easily accessible fabulous creamery
2. a good sports team (that's for JD- I'm so considerate of his needs!)
3. a decent Mexican restaurant

Sigh.... you know, it's just really important to make wise decisions about your future and to think through the implications of those decisions. You may have input that could be useful, but I feel quite confident that I've covered our bases. I'll make SUCH a good lawyer.

Weekend in Utah

We landed a weekend in Utah to visit the fam. It was such a great time and too short.

Last night we went to BYU's Ambassadors in Tucson. It was fun to dress up and go out.
