Someone Hacked into JD's Account

Just wanted to let you know that JD's email account got hacked into and sent out an email asking for money. He's locked out of his account. Please do NOT send any money.

If anyone knows how to resolve this quickly or has advice, can you share? This is a fun thing to deal with the day we are trying to catch our flight to DC......ugh!

Merry Stinkin' Christmas

So as visiting teaching and home teaching gifts, I decided to make hot fudge. I've made it before (last post) and it turned out fabulously. But the sweetened condensed milk is expensive at this time of year. That's when the "brilliant" idea came into play. I thought- why don't I make sweetened condensed milk instead of buying it? It will be much cheaper.

Well, you can stick homemade sweetened condensed milk where the sun don't shine. Not only did the process kill my brand new blender (as in the first time I used it), but I had to strain out the powder milk lumps TWICE per batch.

This experience confirmed two things- 1) I really want a Blendtec blender and 2) I still really hate powdered milk.

Remind me not to have any more good ideas......

All in a Day's Work

It just feels so good to get my food storage in order.

FYI

I have been getting a little more traffic on my cooking blog from people who are interested in posting my site on theirs. I have no idea how many people will actually go to my site, but the potential is there. Up to this point, when I see a recipe that looks good, I slap it in Santini Stew for future reference. But I always try to put the name of person I got the recipe from on the bottom so I can ask questions if necessary and I know where it came from.

With other blogging sites wanting to add me to theirs, I just wanted to make sure there wasn't anyone out there who has a problem with their name being posted on my cooking blog. I want to respect everyone's privacy, so if you are concerned with it, please let me know and I'll make sure it's not published anywhere on Santini Stew.

Chair

For some reason this picture didn't make it on the Reno post. This was my favorite chair at our hotel.

Reno

For JD's dad's Appreciation Dinner for NTA, we went to Reno for the weekend and had a fabulous time with the Santini clan.

We went to Virginia City where JD's great uncle is buried. He wrote The Oxbow Incident and lived right in Virginia City. This is outside of the Bucket o Blood Saloon.

And this is inside the Bucket of Blood Saloon!

Here are some of the nieces and nephews with country folk there.

JD had to get a picture in front of the sign since he's officially a James Santini too.

One of the speakers at the dinner.

Dad Santini during his acceptance speech which was so heart felt and straight off the cuff.

The whole clan

Then we headed to Lake Tahoe- a beautiful day!

I couldn't resist getting this picture at the NTA convention floor. Each state was represented trying to attract business to their tour opportunities.

The second coolest part of the convention was the free Skagen watch we got through the Santini connections. I'm totally enjoying it!

Here we are at the hotel- these chairs are HUGE!

Praise to the Man

I am so grateful for the prophet Joseph Smith- for his life and his mission to bring the Gospel of Jesus Christ back to the earth once more. I know the Savior, Jesus Christ, better because of Joseph Smith. Praise to the man!

Paige and I

Last weekend the lil' sis came for a visit! We played ourselves silly. Shopping was the first item of business. Check out the jeans we found- I think they are well named!
My intelligent look.

After a happy day of shopping.

Evidence of the happy day of shopping!

Another thing we tried our hand at was making flower clips.

Crafting action shot

The end result

Off to the mall!

Love you, girl!

San Diego

JD and I got the crazy idea late one night to go to the BYU/San Diego State football game a couple of weeks ago. Glad we went!We started our adventure doing a session at the temple. I've never been inside before- it's always fun to go to new temples. After our session we were asked to participate in a sealing session where a man in his 60s sealed his parents and grandparents. It was a sweet experience for him and a highlight for us to be a part of his special day.
We then went to La Jolla Cove. Yes- that's me inside the cove before we were yelled at over the loud speaker. I was wondering why no one was inside. I guess I missed the sign forbidding it!

A salad the size of my head.

The big game- we enjoyed a BYU Alumni tailgate party.

Rise and shout, the cougars are out!

This is how cougars warm up!

The other lens ended up falling over the edge and onto the field.

Here we go cougars, here we go!!

Cougs leaving a the stadium after a good game.

JD in heaven- we had a blast!

Another 'BC' Moment

So yesterday I walked in to my husband standing on the washing machine trying to stomp on the clothes in an attempt to fit more in- much like trying to fit more garbage into a dumpster. He then jumped down, ran past me to grab the post pounder and returned. It was amazing the number of garments he could fit into the nooks and crannies with the aid of the pounder. And to think its only use is to pound fence posts into the ground! I have you know this is so not true! (And to think that people call me dramatic- I don't get it).

Now a GOOD wife would have appreciated that her husband was jumping in to help with the laundry. She would go up to him, put her arms around him, give him a kiss and say thank you.

I proceeded with the lecture: You can't cram the washer full. It will not allow the laundry to move with the cycle and the clothes will not get cleaned. Don't wash that with that- the last time you did you dyed half the load pink and we can't afford having to replace clothing that get ruined. And we actually should divide the laundry according to color: one load of whites, one of blacks or darks, one of reds, etc. Blah, blah, blah.

An hour or two later, I threw a load in. And guess what happened. It all came out blue. Serves me right. Luckily we could both laugh about it. No more lectures.....

"He's fixed, but we made him a drug addict...."

....said the doctor today as he came out to tell me how JD's surgery went.

Yes, the surgery is over and it went well. And yes, he was quite loopy when I went to see him. The doctor said that inserting the device went smoothly and the device he used is the size of a quarter. We are so happy that it's over and we can officially move on!

He will be able to resume life in 2 days and be back to sports and the gym in a week. It's such an amazing thing that we live in a day and age where heart surgery can be an outpatient procedure.

Hallelujah!

Our New Kitty!

I don't know what got into me, but I found myself coming home with a kitten. Although I look at these pictures and I ask myself- who WOULDN'T come home with this kitten?
He was actually abandoned out in the middle of nowhere. He was found with his eyes still closed and crying. The couple who found him fed him by bottle, litter box trained him, and then gave him away. He's so cute!

His name is Simon.

Other Summer Fun

When I was working on the Santa Fe post, JD reminded me of some other things we did this summer. We went to Mexico.
It was my first time.

Modeling my purchase.

JD is quite at home here- it's where he went on his mission.

Shopping!

We also went to Wicked.

It's their van!

One of my favorite shows.

We went to the batting cages.

Hey batter, batter, batter! Come home with me tonight!

I had fun playing with my camera.
